Are you enchanted by beads? Are you just begining your adventure with bead embroidery? Are you admiring different projects and telling yourself it looks complicated? Don’t be discouraged! Start with something small, not demanding and not time-consuming. What about earrings?
I’m sure you have already noticed that I like to convert useless things into useful ones and I think twice before I decide to throw something away. I know, I know, I repeat myself, but recycling is always trendy. In the case of this necklace I would even dare to say that it is in fact upcycling. But let’s start from the begining.
Inspiration is a very important thing for every craftsman, because you can’t create without an idea. With the little experience I have I must say that it is hard to find some inspiration, but I’m sure about one thing, nature is full of inspirations, especially in spring when everything blossoms. So the inspiration for today’s necklace was nature itself, specifically speaking, one particular beautiful insect – dragonfly.
If somebody told me a few yeras ago that I made a necklace using tights I would laugh in his face, but today? Today, I made a necklace using tights, in other words a recycling in full swing 🙂
One day I thought that the peyote stitch can be an interesting topic to explore, for instance due to it’s name… have you ever wondered why the peyote stitch is called peyote? Let’s see.
Everything started with turquoise cabochon. I have never embroidered with a peyote stitch and decided that bezeling the cabochon would be a perfect begining. A small cabochon pendant bezeled with beads – it was supposed to be a quick and easy project, it was supposed to be…but was it? Check that out 🙂
After the bead crochet, here comes a new challenge – herringbone stitch. It wasn’t planned from the very beginning, I haven’t made the list of techniques and stitches I’m going to learn. I just try out the things I come across, that is the things I like:) You are welcome to join me in my first encounter with herrigbone stitch.
A few days ago on my Facebook fanpage I mentioned my challenge connected with beaded rope. There were two scenarios how all of this could end, one me deafiting the bead crochet and the other. me being defeated by bead crochet:) Ona has to develop and get to know new techniques, right? Do you want to know how the fight finished and what kind of experiences I’ve learnt? Read more!
I’m just thinking, spring is coming, so it is a high time to make something fresh and full of colours. I have even an idea!. What can be more associated with spring than flowers, so it is settled, flower pendant it is. It’ will be like a first snowdrop, a spark of hope for the better tomorrow – I know it sounds pompously, but go gentle on me, I’m trying to overcome winter lethargy and apathy 🙂
